how can the burning of fossil fuels lead to acid rain and what is the acid produced in this case?

I know that burning fossil fuels produces sulphur as an impurity but how can i answer my question?

  1. Acid rain can be produce from the burning of coal which can contain sulfur. If the power plant does not have a wet scrubber to remove the SO2 produced from the burning of coal, it can mix with atmospheric moisture and produce sulfurous and sulfuric acid.
